Shooting victim has car stolen in north St. Louis

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A 30-year-old man was taken to a St. Louis hospital after being shot in the chest in a north St. Louis neighborhood Monday morning.
 
According to reports, the shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. in the 4500 block of Clarence Avenue.
 
The victim told authorities that he was sitting in his car when he heard what he though was gunfire.  He got out of his vehicle and ran from the scene.  He discovered that he was shot in the chest.  After the gunshots stopped, the victim told police he returned to where his car was parked, only to find out his car had been stolen.
 
Emergency crews responded and took the victim to an area hospital where officials reported he is in serious, but stable condition.
 
Police are investigating in an effort find out where the gunfire was coming from.  No suspects have been named thus far.
