EDWARDSVILLE, Illinois (KMOV.com) – Madison County authorities say a 2-year-old boy who fell in a neighbor's pond near his Edwardsville home has died.

On Wednesday deputies said a woman called authorities around 3 p.m. after Lukas Pinski and his twin brother went missing from their home on Cherokee Trail.

Relatives went searching for the two boys and found Lukas submerged in a neighbor’s pond about a quarter-mile away from his home. His brother was found sitting on the bank.

Deputies said one of the relatives pulled Lukas from the water and began performing CPR. A deputy came to the scene a short time later and continued CPR.

Authorities said an ambulance arrived and transported Lukas a nearby hospital. He was then airlifted to a St. Louis area hospital where he died on Saturday afternoon.

The other twin was not injured.

Authorities said they were still investigating the incident.
