ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) -- Police say a man admitted to killing his ex-girlfriend and her mother, then setting a fire that killed his infant son and seriously injured a young girl.
Eric Lawson, 23 has been charged with multiple counts of First Degree Murder, Armed Criminal Action, Arson, Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Firefighters were called to an apartment in the 2100 block of South Jefferson near Russell around 10 p. m. Saturday. Emergency crews arrived to find heavy flames in the third floor residence.
Rescue crews found one victim upon entering the residence, and located three others after knocking down the flames.
Investigators say two adults found dead inside the residence had been shot in the head. Two children that were overcome by smoke were rushed to the hospital where one died.
The adult victims are identified as Gwendolyn Ray, 50, and Breiana Ray, 22. Ten-month-old Aiden Lawson was transported to Cardinal Glennon Hospital where he was pronounced dead from smoke inhalation. A three year old girl rescued from the home remains hospitalized in critical condition.
According to police, Lawson admitted to shooting the adult victims, then setting the home on fire using a lighter and locking the doors. Lawson reportedly told police he shot the women because he was angry with his former girlfriend.
