MANCHESTER, Mo. (KMOV) -- Missouri Governor Jay Nixon and dozens of area military families celebrated the return of National Guard soldiers from Afghanistan on Saturday.
The celebration for the 1138th Transportation Company took place at at the First Evangelical Free Church in Manchester.
The troops left Afghanistan on April 20, after a 10-month convoy operation mission. Before leaving, more than a dozen were awarded the Bronze Star.
The Missouri National Guard soldiers delivered crucial supplies to bases and escorted Afghan trucks carrying supplies to troops.
The 1138th is headquartered at Jefferson Barracks.
