EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP/KMOV) --Two men have been shot to death at an East St. Louis gas station, while a third managed to escape on Saturday morning.
Police Chief Michael Floore says the men were sitting in a car at the Crown Food Mart at about 1 a.m. Saturday when three gunmen rounded a corner and opened fire.
He says it appears that the victims were targeted because the shooters "walked right up to the car."
Willie Singleton, 35, and Lavor Flakes, 33, were killed and a third person escaped injury.
No suspects are currently in custody and are hoping the public may be able to assist.
Police say they are reviewing surveillance video and believe the crime may be drug-related. There have been three homicides in the same spot within the last year.
Illinois State Police are assisting in the investigation.
