GRANITE CITY, Il. (KMOV) -- The Illinois State Police has been requested by the Granite City Police Department to investigate the death of a 56-year-old man who collapsed at the police station.
Granite City Police notified the Illinois State Police that Shannon Walsh was arrested on traffic offenses and transported to the police department on January 19.
Walsh collapsed upon his arrival at the police department and was transported to a hospital for treatment. Walsh died at the hospital five days later.
The exact cause of death is currently unknown. Without conclusive autopsy results, invesigators are still waiting on toxicology results which could take up to a month.
The investigation is ongoing.
