(KMOV.com) -- A man was shot and killed Thursday morning following an argument near the Soulard Market in south St. Louis.
St. Louis Police said the shooting happened near the intersection of 8th and Carroll streets around 2:45 a.m. According to reports, residents in a nearby apartment building heard people arguing outside and then heard gunshots. When police arrived, they found James M. Clavin, 34, from Affton, Missouri lying on the ground. He was transported to St. Louis University Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
The Social House bar is nearby and residents in the area said the club has drink specials on Wednesday nights and that often draws a rowdy crowd. Police did not say if the suspect or victim had been at the bar, but they are looking into it. The Social House is also owned by the same family that operated Lure in downtown before its liquor license was revoked. The Social House denies seeing Clavin in their establishment.
A dark-colored pick-up truck was towed away from the scene and police told News 4 it was part of the investigation.
Authorities do not have any suspects in the shooting.
