Police investigating possible threat to Missouri lawmakers

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (KMOV) – Investigators are unsure if they are dealing with a prank or a death threat after six Missouri legislators found orange stickers that depict the crosshairs of a gun on their office doors.
Senator Maria Chappelle-Nadal now uses a police escort when she walks to and from the parking lot and her staff is on-guard about who visits her office. She has also brought a large dog to work with her.
“I think this is an ill-will attempt to intimidate us, but it won’t work. We won’t be intimidated,” Senator Chappelle-Nadal said.
The gun crosshair stickers showed up during the same week that Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, who survived an assassination attempt last year, announced her retirement.
Capitol police and the Missouri Highway Patrol have been called in to investigate the incident and help security in the Capitol.
Investigators say there are no cameras present in the halls where the stickers were placed, but will continue to check for fingerprints and interview possible witnesses.
