(KMOV.com) -- A Belleville, Illinois woman was rescued from a Fairview Heights lake after a runner spotter her struggling in the water and called 9-1-1.
Police said they were called to respond to a report of a woman in a lake at Moody Park, also known as Longacre Park, in Fairview Heights just before 3 p.m.
When one officer arrived on the scene, he saw two individuals attempting to pull the woman out of the lake. The officer joined the effort and was able to get the woman out of the water. When the victim was pulled from the water, she was unresponsive. She was revived a short time later. Emergency crews arrived on the scene and took the woman to an area hospital for treatment. She was later released.
According to reports, the runner, James Brown, 45, noticed the woman struggling in the lake and called 9-1-1. Nicole Bunting, 33, was also in the area and Brown enlisted her help. Bunting entered the water and was able to get the victim to the shorline.
Police are now investigating the incident. They have not determined why the woman was in the lake, but said they do not suspect the incident to be suspicious in nature.
