(KMOV.com) -- On Tuesday morning, witnesses spotted two men attempting to steal a 2010 Dodge Charger from a bus lot near 2nd Street and Lafayette in south St. Louis, not far from the riverfront.
Thursday, the Circuit Attorney's Office issued warrants against Michael Brown for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting/Interfering with Arrest.
Another man allegedly with Brown when the two men stole a vehicle from a south St. Louis bus lot and tried to run down officers in north St. Louis is in custody.
The same witnesses that saw the men alerted the owner of the vehicle, Willie Ferguson, and after a scuffle, the thieves made off with Ferguson's car.
St. Louis City Police officers saw the vehicle a few hours later in north St. Louis and followed it. As the stolen vehicle approached the 4700 block of Maffitt, officers deployed the spike strips. When the officers were deploying the spike strips, the driver drove the stolen vehicle drove directly at officers and a suspect inside flourished a gun at officers. In fear for his safety and the safety of other officers, one officer fired at the suspect vehicle.
The stolen vehicle continued on, with police in pursuit. The driver eventually crashed into a fence in the 8300 block of Hall Street in the Baden neighborhood in north St. Louis.
Brown, 25, received a gunshot wound to his leg during the pursuit and was transported to an area hospital where doctors indicated he was stable.
Officers recovered a gun from the stolen vehicle. No police officers were injured.
