(KMOV) – The state of Missouri is still deciding on expanding Interstate 70 from Wentzville through Kansas City by turning a large portion of the highway into a toll road, to pay for the expansion.
Some Wentzville business owners say they like the idea of starting the toll in their town because some drivers would avoid paying the toll and use service roads, which could increase business.
Wentzville Mayor Paul Lambi on the other hand dislikes the concept, saying the surcharge would be unfair to Missouri drivers. Lambi says he hopes the Missouri Department of Transportation could find a different way to fund the expansion.
The toll concept is still being debated by Missouri lawmakers.
