Obama's proposed tourism strategy could boost St. Louis economy

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com)- A world-wide attraction like the Gateway Arch may put St. Louis on the international tourism map, but lesser known attractions like blues music and the Fabulous Fox Theatre could help keep the tourists coming back.

Obama plans to create jobs by implementing a new national tourism strategy.  The new program could attract international travelers to the U.S. and entice a lot more Brazilians and Britains alike to spend big money in the Delmar Loop, along Washington Avenue or at the casinos like Ameristar.

His proposal would significantly reduce the time individuals from foreign countries must wait in order to attain a visa, in some cases cutting the time from four months to three weeks.

Some believe the best way to market St. Louis to the foreign population would be through blues music and obviously the Gateway Arch.
