Former fire marshal charged for stealing colleagues pills

MAPLEWOOD, Mo. (KMOV) – A former Maplewood fire marshal and building inspector was charged with stealing prescription pills while on the job on January 5.

Russell Todd, 55, was charged with the crime after he was caught on camera stealing pills from a desk of a code enforcement officer who had the pills from a recent knee surgery in July.

The officer brought the missing pills to the police chief’s attention three weeks prior to arresting him on August 8.  Todd resigned from his position once he was confronted with the video evidence.  Todd admitted to stealing pills between June and August 2011.
