ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV) – St. Charles residents may soon have to start paying to participate in sports because the Parks and Recreation board says it needs $35,000 a year for maintenance and improvements to the fields.
American Legion is one of many organizations in St. Charles that might have to start charging its players to play.
A coach with the American Legion team says he is constantly apologizing to opposing coaches for the conditions of the fields. He also says he could be okay with charging players to play as long as the money is used correctly.
St. Charles council member Mike Linghammer says that the money will indeed go towards improving the fields.
Some organizations are trying to raise funds so no players will have to pay any money to play.
