Godfrey, Il. (KMOV) – The Madison County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help from the public to find those responsible for shooting out the windows of parked vehicles in a Godfrey, Illinois subdivision on January 18.
Police investigated eight complaints of criminal damage to property in and around the Villa Marie and Camelot subdivisions.
A total of eleven car windows were shot out by a pellet or BB gun during the late evening hours of January 17 and the early morning hours of January 18. The damage estimate is around $6,000.
No suspect information was developed during the investigation but the incident is similar to a string of other incidents in December 2011 in the area of Meadowbrook, Illinois which is five miles away.
During that investigation, witnesses provided descriptions of two possible suspect vehicles. One vehicle was described as possibly a mid 1980’s sports car, possibly a Camaro or Mustang and dark in color. Another vehicle was described as a white pickup truck.
"Somebody saw something or somebody's friend made a comment that hopefully somebody is willing to share with us and lead us in the right direction," Captain Mike Dixon said.
It is unknown if the two incidents are connected, but anyone with information is urged to call the Madison County Sheriff’s Office at 618-692-4433 (dispatch), 618-692-0871 (investigation) or 618-296-3000 (anonymous tip line).
