East St. Louis police chief resigns for 'personal reasons'

(KMOV) – East St. Louis Police Chief Michael Baxton has suddenly resigned from his position on Wednesday.  Former East St. Louis detective Michael Floore has been sworn in as the new police chief.

Baxton was sworn into the position over a month ago after leaving the Alorton Police Department.
 
In a press release, the City of East St. Louis stated "we take this opportunity to thank Colonel Michael Baxton Sr. for serving as Chief beginning November 30, 2011, and for getting a stellar job started. He is resigning for personal reasons. The City wishes him well."
