340 Pounds of cannabis seized during 24-hour period on Illinois interstate

(KMOV) – Illinois State Police have uncovered more than 340 pounds of cannabis during routine traffic stops on Interstate 80 within a 24-hour period from Sunday to Monday.

Police seized approximately 250 pounds of cannabis from a vehicle that was initially stopped for an equipment violation on January 15.  The driver, Pedro Herrera, 23, and the passenger, Manuel Orona, 50, are charged with possession and intent to deliver.  The estimated value of the cannabis is $300,000.
 
Police seized another 90 pounds of high-grade cannabis after stopping a vehicle for improperly changing lanes and following too closely behind a vehicle on January 16.  The estimated value of the high-grade cannabis is $351,000.  The driver, Abdullah Abdur-Rahim, 35, was charged with possessing cannabis with the intent to deliver.
