IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) -- Investigators say a 45-year-old Iowa businesswoman who vanished two weeks ago has been found alive in Texas.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that Sharon Hopf of Crawfordsville has been located in Texas and "is safe with family." The office said it would release more details Wednesday afternoon.
Officials say she was disoriented when they found her and has since been released to her family. She did not need medical attention.
Hopf had been the subject of an intense search after she failed to show up for work at the home furnishings company she co-owns with her husband on Jan. 5. Her car was found at an abandoned home outside of St. Louis two days later.
Investigators said last week they believed she disappeared on her own to get away from family and work stress. Her husband, Perry Hopf, had pleaded with her at a news conference to call home.
