(KMOV) --  A 10-year study discovered that those who drank two or more diet sodas a day had a six-time greater increase in waist circumference and weight gain than those who did not drink diet soda.

Dr. Holly Phillips, a CBS News contributor, presented the findings Saturday. She says the sweeteners found in diet sodas are a major cause for the weight gain because the body begins craving more sugar, thus causing further consumption.

Doctors say limiting the intake in diet soda should cut down the statistic.
