(KMOV) – The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services say they received notice that metal tissue box covers from a product line delivered to the Bed, Bath and Beyond retail store in the Sunset Hills Plaza, were radioactive.
Further investigation found that Manchester, Missouri and ten other midwest locations have had the same Dual Ridge Metal Boutique tissue holders on Bed, Bath and Beyond shelves.
In Sunset Hills, 12 tissue box covers in total contained Cobalt-60 after testing which qualifies as a radioactive substance. Six of those tissue box covers have been identified and placed in a secure location to prevent any potential exposure. Officials say the remaining six items are thought to have been sold to customers.
DHSS is working with store management to ensure contact with customers so the products can be returned. Officials say the Sunset Hills location is the only Missouri store to have received these radioactive tissue boxes.
Other Bed, Bath and Beyond stores to sell the radioactive tissue holder include-
-North Kansas City, Mo.
-Downers Grove, Ill.
-Chicago (Lincoln Park), Ill.
-Crystal Lake, Ill.
-Orland Park, Ill.
