CENTREVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A Metro East police official has been arrested and taken into custody by federal authorities for questioning.
Sources told News 4 that Corey Allen, the Assistant Police Chief in Centreville, was arrested Thursday in relation to a gun charge.
Centreville Mayor Mark Jackson acknowledged that Allen was picked up by the federal agents for questioning and police sources say the case involves illegally transferring a weapon.
One source privy to the investigation says Allen found a gun at his carwash on Bond Avenue in Alorton and allowed one of his employees to keep it.
Jackson said prior to Allen's arrest, federal authorities did not told them thatone of their officers was under investigation.
So far, Allen has not been charged with a crime, but the United State’s Attorney’s Office said Thursday to “stay tuned.”
