Police: Good Samaritan helps thwart robbery near University City

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV) – Two robbery suspects are in custody after a good Samaritan helped apprehend them near University City on Tuesday.

 

Jared Tate and Early Flynn Farmer III were each charged with first-degree attempted robbery and armed criminal action. Farmer was also charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.

According to police, the victim, 28, agreed to meet with up Tate and Farmer on the Schnucks parking lot in the 6900 block of Olive so they could repay a debt they owed him.

Police said when Tate and Farmer arrived, they tried to rob the victim.

The victim broke free and flagged down a tow truck driver, who called police. Tate and Farmer were later captured while trying to flee the scene on foot.

Bond for both men were set at $100,000.
