ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Police are looking for two suspects after one of them pulled out a handgun and shot at a 20-year-old woman and her young son in south St. Louis Monday morning.
According to police, the shooting happened in the 3700 block of Gravois around 4:24 a.m.
The female victim told police she was giving the suspects a ride because she had met them earlier Sunday night. While driving, the suspects instructed her to park her vehicle at the corner of Bamberger and Gravois because that is where they lived.
After parking, the suspects refused to get out of the victim’s vehicle. The victim then grabbed her keys and her 2-year-old son and ran to a nearby 7-Eleven convenience store to ask for help. Someone inside the store agreed to help her.
As the victim, her son and another man were returning to the car, one of the suspects pulled out a handgun and started shooting at them. The man who agreed to help her also pulled out a handgun and returned fire.
The suspects were last spotted fleeing from the scene, running east on Gravois. Nobody was injured in the shootout.
Police said the 33-year-old man who helped the victim had a conceal and carry permit for his weapon.
The suspect who fired the shot was described to police as a black male, approximately 5-foot 8-inches tall, 18 to 20 years of age with a slim build and short hair. During the incident he was wearing a white t-shirt and blue jeans.
The other suspect has been described as a black male, 16 to 19 years of age, approximately 5-foot 8-inches tall with a slim build. He was wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans and white tennis shoes during the incident.
