ST. LOUIS ( -- As part of a more than one billion dollar settlement, customers in 24 states and Washington D.C. are asked to file a claim over LCD screens purchased between January 1999 and December 2006.  The deadline to submit a claim is on December 6th, 2012.

"My goodness, I think that's going to be hundreds and hundreds of thousands of Missourians who qualify," said Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster.

Ten manufacturers of LCD screens agreed to settle a lawsuit and pay penalties over allegations of price fixing.  The companies did not admit guilt.  They were accused to conspiring to artificially inflate prices of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) screens during an eight year period from 1999 to 2006.

The manufacturers include big names like Sharp, Toshiba, LG, and Samsung, but Koster says the LCD screens in your home may still be eligible even if they're marked with a different brand name.

"The flat screen that you have may have actually been branded by a different retail company, but manufactured by one of the defendants in this case," said Koster.

The Missouri AG says he still wants customers to submit a claim.

"I think right now the claims attorneys are going to be relatively lenient, we believe, in including these claims that the attorney generals office is going to bring forward," added Koster.

Once the Missouri AG collects the claims, the office will take them to the judge to seek out a cut of the settlement.

You are not asked to submit a receipt or proof of purchase.  You have to give your address and information about how many LCD screens (computer monitors, laptops, televisions) you bought in Missouri (or another qualifying state) during the qualifying time period.

Once the lawyers are paid, the rest of the settlement will be divided among the consumers who submitted an approved claim.  Each customer is expected to receive a check for at least $25 and up to $200 dollars, depending on the number of LCD screens purchases in the qualifying period.

Illinois residents are not eligible.

You can file a claim form online:

Koster said it would be several months before customers start receiving checks.
