(KMOV.com) -- A car crashed into a pond and was submerged in unincorporated St. Clair County early Friday morning.
Illinois State Police confirmed just the driver of the car was involved in the accident and escaped without any injuries.
According to the driver of the car, a mechanical malfunction caused the crash into the pond. The car was submerged up to the car’s roof.
Police said alcohol was not a factor in the crash and the driver was not charged.
The damage to the car totaled the vehicle. The accident was reported at 1:45 a.m. Friday.
