(KMOV) – A 62-year-old woman was charged on Monday after she was allegedly caught stealing charity donation jars from two restaurants in Alton.

Police say Victoria Mitchell allegedly grabbed donation jars aimed at raising funds for “Club Paws/Hope Animal Rescue” on June 23 and for “5As” charity on June 27.

Authorities were made aware after the animal rescue group put a photo on their Facebook page of the woman on a surveillance camera

A tip was received from a customer who saw the photo on the Facebook page.

Each jar was said to have about $20-$30 at the time of the theft.

Mitchell was taken into custody on June 29.
