(BaseballStL) -- Matt Adams sent two home runs, a three-run and solo shot, over the right field wall in a 7-1 win over the Oakland Athletics on Saturday.
Adams has been used in limited duty for the St. Louis Cardinals this season, but made the most of his 18th start at first base this season. He belted two home runs in consecutive at-bats for his first career multi-home run game of his career.
Shortly after Matt Holliday gave the Cardinals a 3-0 lead on an RBI single in the sixth inning, Adams sent the first pitch seen, a slider, by Athletics reliever Jerry Blevins into the stands for a 6-0 lead.
Adams sent an 88-mph sinker from Pat Neshek just over the right field wall for a solo home run, and a 7-0 lead.
The home runs were No. 5 and No. 6 on the season, and the four RBI in the game raised his season total to 20 in 43 games played.
