(KMOV.com) - Severe storms moved through the St. Louis-area Wednesday evening, leaving thousands without power in St. Charles County.

Ameren Missouri officials said about 750 residents were without power in St. Charles County as of 10 p.m. Most of those affected lived in St. Charles and St. Peters.

At least 260 were without power in the East St. Louis and Washington Park areas Wednesday night.

Officials with Ameren say customers affected by the outages should have a battery-powered radio, flashlights, drinking water, canned-no cook food, first aid kit and a supply of necessary medications readily available.

Customers without power should contact the Customer Service Center at 1-800-552-7583 or go to the Outage Center at AmerenMissouri.com, where they can also access outage information.

Call the Customer Service Center or 911 immediately if you see downed power lines.
