NEW ORLEANS - A man was sent to the hospital after a large slab of concrete fell on him in the Mid-City-area on Wednesday morning, according to the New Orleans Fire Department.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m. at North Dorgenois Street and Toulouse Street.
The soft mud underneath the man's leg stopped the concrete from crushing his leg. The man only suffered a broken ankle, according to the NOFD.
An eyewitness, Morris Powers, heard the man screaming for help and found him trapped.
The man said he was trying to urinate on the fence at a scrap yard when a concrete block fell on his leg, according to Powers.
