JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A St. Louis man imprisoned for nearly two decades in a teenager’s 1993 dance hall murder is seeking a new trial, claiming he was a victim of mistaken identity.

Anthony Williams was found guilty of first-degree murder and is serving a life sentence in the fatal shooting of 14-year-old Cortez Andrews on Dec. 31, 1993 during a brawl outside a Washington Avenue teen dance.  Williams was also 14 at the time.

Williams filed a new appeal on Tuesday in Jefferson City, where he is imprisoned. He says seven other people at the dance will testify he was not the shooter. The appeal also says St. Louis police distorted testimony from others at the dance in order to charge Williams.
