(KMOV.com) -- One local school district has been named as one of the most diverse districts in Missouri by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
With over 1,600 students speaking 19 different languages, students in the Bayless School District are confronted with diversity in the classroom daily. According to the school, students come to Bayless from over 21 countries, such as Bosnia, Vietnam and Iraq. Roughly half of the 1,600 students at Bayless are language minority students.
News 4’s Claire Kellett spoke with educators and students at Bayless about the strengths and challenges of having such a diverse student population.
