(KMOV) – Detectives are investigating after a St. Louis woman claimed she was raped after getting lost in Franklin County.
According to police, a 33-year-old woman told officers two armed men approached her on Highway 100 near Interstate 44, Sunday night.
The woman said she was heading home to St. Louis from Cuba, Missouri when she became unfamiliar with the area. She stated that she wanted to take Highway 30 and Interstate 44 but missed the exit ramp.
Police say at one point she pulled over along Highway 100 and attempted to get directions. She said the two men then crossed the road and approached her vehicle.
Investigators say one of the men was armed with a gun, while the other man had a knife in hand when they allegedly sexually assaulted her. She was treated and released from an area hospital after reportedly being cut by the knife and hit with the handgun during the assault.
The woman described the suspects as standing at approximately 5’10” tall, wearing dark hoodies, and dark pants. She was unable to tell authorities which direction they fled.
