(KMOV.com) – An East Saint Louis man is facing prison time after Federal Court found him guilty of a firearm offense relating to a June 2010 gun and drug charge.
According to reports, Antoine Thomas,37, was sentenced on October 25 to one year and a day in prison. In addition to prison time, Thomas faces two years of supervised release, a $500 fine and a $100 assessment.
In original court filings, Thomas was charged with one count of unlawfully possessing a gun while using a controlled substance.
Stephen R. Wiggington, the U.S. Attorney for Southern Illinois explained that on June 29, 2010, Thomas was arrested after a search warrant of a residence revealed two loaded guns and marijuana. Reports indicate that Thomas acknowledged the guns and marijuana as his.
The case was part of an effort by the WAVE Task Force to fight violent crime in East Saint Louis and surrounding areas.
