Police: Man who shot 2 at Florissant bar dies of heart attack after assault

(KMOV.com) -- Police are investigating a double shooting that occurred Friday night at a bar in Florissant that has left two people in the hospital and the shooting suspect dead.

Florissant Police said two people were shot after an argument inside of Pirate’s Cove Bar in the 400 block of Howdershell Road around 11:30 p.m.

When police arrived at the bar they found out the alleged shooter Edward Mueller, 63, had been disarmed by fellow patron at the bar and then assaulted by another person.

The shooting victims were transported to a hospital with what police described as non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities also took Mueller to the hospital to receive treatment for his injuries sustained while being disarmed and assaulted.

Police said Mueller died while at the hospital after he went into cardiac arrest.

Mueller’s death has been classified as a homicide by the St. Louis County Examiner’s Office. Police took the suspect who assaulted Mueller into custody.
