Four teenagers charged in shooting death of Mount Vernon cab driver

MOUNT VERNON, Ill. (KMOV) – Four teenagers were charged on June 1 with first degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a 75-year-old cab driver.

Charles Ellis was shot to death around 1:25 a.m. on May 31 at the corner of 6th and Bell in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.

A fellow American Cab Company employee found Ellis' body inside his cab.

 

Demandre Black, 18, of Swansea, Illinois, Damondros James, 18, of Mt. Vernon, Mark Taylor, 18, of Mt. Vernon, and Christopher Wells, 15, of Mt. Vernon are each being held on $3 million bond.
