GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV) – A police chase that started in Granite City ended early Tuesday morning in East St. Louis.
According to Granite City police, the pursuit begin around 11:30 p.m. on Monday after concerned family members called police for a welfare check on a relative they believed to be suicidal.
When officers arrived at the man's home, he was nowhere to be found.
Granite City police put out a call for officers in the area to keep an eye out for the man.
Officers spotted him a short time later and noticed that he was driving erratically. They attempted to pull him over.
The man did not pull over his vehicle, and instead, police say he tried to hit a squad car before fleeing the scene down Route 203, and onto Interstate 55.
Authorities from Granite City and Madison County were involved in the chase. It finally ended at St. Clair and Baugh in East St. Louis.
Police have not said whether the man will be charged in the incident.
