Local Boy Scouts carry on Memorial Day tradition

(KMOV) – For the last 61 years, area Boy Scouts have shown their patriotism on Memorial Day by placing small, American flags next to each grave at Jefferson Barracks.

On Sunday, the young ambassadors spent hours placing the flags on each of the 183,000 markers inside the national cemetery.

Jefferson Barracks, a 184-year-old cemetery, is the fifth-largest national memorial site in the country, averaging 17 burials a day.
