Man sees burglary in progress, is shot in throat, chest

(KMOV) -- A St. Louis man was shot after witnessing a burglary in his apartment complex.
 
The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 3700 block of Delor.
 
According to St. Louis police, the 28-year-old victim heard glass breaking in the apartment below his. The victim tells police that he walked outside and saw a man breaking into his neighbor’s apartment.
 
The victim says the suspect then took out a gun and started shooting at him.
 
The victim was hit in the throat and the chest. He was taken to a local hospital where he is listed in serious condition.
 
The suspect, described as a black man in his late teens or early twenties, ran from the scene.
 
A 45-year-old man who lived in the apartment that was being burglarized was not home at the time. He has not said what, if anything, was stolen from his apartment.
