Warrenton bank robber ties up employees and cleans out the safe

WARRENTON, Mo. (KMOV) -- Warrenton police are looking for a gun toting bank robber who tied up two bank employees and made off with thousands of dollars in cash.

On Saturday, just before noon, police said a man walked into the American Bank of Missouri at 917 NE Service Road in Warrenton, Missouri.  He approached a teller and requested a money order.  Moments later he pulled out a handgun and demanded access to the safe.

Two employees led the suspect into the safe.  The suspect then secured both employees with zip-ties.  He place approximately $25,000 cash in a trash bag and left.  Nobody was injured in the robbery.

Authorities describe the suspect as a late 20 to 30-year-old black male, 6 feet tall with a stocky build.  At the time of the robbery, the suspect was wearing a dark baseball cap with a red and white emblem on front, sunglasses, tan sweatshirt with a tear in the left sleeve near the bicep, blue undershirt, tan work pants with white stains and brown work boots.

The Warrenton Police Department and the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department ID Unit along with the Federal Bureau of Investigation are heading up the investigation.  Anyone with information should contact the Warrenton Police Department at 636-456-7088.
