(KMOV) – Stray Rescue has operated a non-profit dog shelter for hundreds of strays since St. Louis city closed its only dog shelter last year.
Stray Rescue is now in a dispute with the Board of Alderman about getting donations from city residents to build a new shelter.
Randy Grimm, the founder of Stray Rescue, hoped to get the $250,000 in donations, but the Board of Alderman is balking at handing over the money.
City Alderwoman Dionne Flowers thinks Grimm overreacted and the board just wants a more formal agreement with Stray Rescue.
Mayor Francis Slay is hoping Grimm keeps the organization running for the city.
