(KMOV) – More than 60 Metro-East police officers infiltrated what they call their most violent subdivision, going after every criminal they can find, both violent and nonviolent.
The sweep is in response to a rolling gun battle that left a teenager dead about a month ago.
Officials have even set up the state’s attorney’s office in a trailer, and anyone police arrest Thursday night will be booked there. If necessary, some people will see a judge right away.
A team in Parkfield Terrace looked for people with parole violations and even traffic warrants. There have also been environmental zoning officers and animal control units giving warnings and tickets for quality of life issues.
Police say the goal is to clean up the neighborhood.
Police have also been making traffic stops and plan to continue through the overnight hours.
