God Bless Jon Jays Patience

I’m not saying Jon Jay could start for every Major League club, but there’s no doubt in my mind that Jay is a legitimate major leaguer; I’m not sure I could boast the patience he has knowing that I could be starting for another team rather than coming off the bench like he does now, unless there’s an injury to another player.  Jay’s played in 42 games but has just 59 at-bats.

The former Miami Hurricane has been hot. In the last seven days he’s collected ten hits, nine RBI’s, four runs, one double, and is batting .435, (.322 for the season). I also like the fact that you can stick Jay anywhere in the outfield and he’ll succeed. Of course he’ll make the routine plays more times than not, but he can show a little flash when he needs to; perfect example Wednesday night’s game when he  made a diving-sliding catch to rob Clint Barmes in the seventh inning which was turned into a double play.
Jon Jay’s stock is on the rise. The more he plays the more he’ll succeed. He’s a nice, humble guy, who is happy to be a big leaguer, and is happy to be a Cardinal, but you have to think eventually he’s going to want a shot to be a starter, will it be with the Cardinals, maybe, maybe not, only time will tell, but one thing is for sure, Jay deserves that chance to show what he can do on a consistent basis.
