ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – One man is dead and a suspect was critically injured after an attempted robbery in west St. Louis City.

This incident was originally reported Monday night as two separate shootings, one at Granville and Minerva and the second in the 5500 block of Wabada. The investigation revealed that both shootings occurred in the 5500 block of Minerva.

Authorities said a 33-year-old male told police that he and another male were in a car when two suspects approached and attempted to rob them. Both suspects had guns and entered the victim’s vehicle. One suspect started shooting and 21-year-old Delrico Jones was shot in the face and shoulder.

The victim drove Jones to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A short time later, 35-year-old male suspect was also dropped off at an area hospital. He had been shot in the abdomen and was listed in critical condition.

The investigation revealed the second suspect shot both Jones and the other suspect during the attempted robbery. The second suspect was later taken into custody by police.
The investigation is ongoing.
