(KMOV) – The Center for Disease Control says one person has died from salmonella poisoning that appears to be linked to ground turkey.
Since March, 76 people in 26 states have become sick from the a strain of salmonella that is resistant to commonly prescribed antibiotics.
Officials say Michigan and Ohio have had the highest number of illnesses from the meat.
Illinois reported seven cases connected to the outbreak, while Missouri had two.
The government says the Department of Agriculture will decide to issue a recall.
