NIXA, Mo. (AP) -- Taney County authorities say a set of remains found last week belonged to a southwest Missouri woman who has not been seen since April.
Authorities said Thursday the remains were those of Rebecca Porter, 46, of Willard. A second set of remains is believed to be her husband, Russell Porter, but more tests will be conducted.
The Porters disappeared April 17 from their home near Willard in Greene County. The remains were found last week in a forested area of Taney County. Authorities say they are investigating the case as a double homicide.
Taney County Coroner Kevin Tweedy said Thursday night that dental records confirmed Rebecca Porter's identity.
A laboratory in Texas will conduct more tests to positively identify the second set of remains and determine how the two died.
