CHILLICOTHE, Mo. (AP) -- An autopsy is planned on a Kansas City woman who died less than two months after starting a prison sentence for drunken driving.
The St. Joseph News-Press reports (http://bit.ly/uofd1d ) that 46-year-old Krechenna Kendrick was an inmate at the Chillicothe Correctional Center in northwest Missouri.
The prison's warden, Steve Larkins, said Kendrick died just before 6 a.m. Friday at Hedrick Medical Center in Chillicothe.
Online court records show Kendrick was arrested last March in the Kansas City suburb of Riverside and pleaded guilty Nov. 10 to being a persistent offender to felony driving while intoxicated. Platte County Circuit Judge Abe Shafer sentenced her to three years in prison.
The News-Press reports Kendrick entered the correctional system Nov. 23 -- 37 days before her death.
