(KMOV) – Police have charged 22-year-old Gabriel Williams for kidnapping, armed criminal action, three counts of robbery, two counts of burglary and one count of felonious restraint after holding a Clayton couple hostage for money Saturday afternoon.
Police say a Clayton resident was working in his yard in the 50 block of Arundel when he was approached by two armed suspects who demanded money, one identified as Gabriel Williams.
After the resident was unable to provide the suspects with any money, Williams demanded the male resident escort him to an ATM at the Richmond Heights Schnucks while the second suspect, a 16-year-old, remained at the house with the female resident.
After arriving at Schnucks the resident alerted a security guard who then alerted Clayton and Richmond Heights Police Departments.
Williams at the Schnucks proceeded to the 7000 block of Northmoor Drive in University City, where he then committed a street robbery. Clayton officers responded to the victim’s house where the second suspect surrendered himself to police. Since the 16-year-old suspect is a juvenile, he was turned over to Juvenile Authorities.
Williams was later taken into custody by Richmond Heights Police Department.
Neither victim was injured. The investigation is ongoing.
