PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- The New Year's Eve fireworks are on in Peoria.
The third annual fireworks were canceled, but the president of an Illinois fireworks company has stepped forward to pay any extra expenses and ensure the display goes off. Larry Lefferts of Normal is president of Central States Fireworks Inc. He has provided fireworks for the last two New Year's Eve displays in Peoria.
Lefferts tells the Journal Star (http://bit.ly/rRrkae) that Peoria has been good to him and he wanted to give back. He estimates it will cost him between $2,000 and $2,500 for the display. The rest of the $6,000 cost is covered by sponsorships.
