BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) -- A convicted felon from southwestern Illinois has been ordered to spend four decades in prison for storming a home and holding 11 people at gunpoint.
A St. Clair County judge also sentenced 30-year-old Cortez Richardson of Cahokia to 15 years in prison for attempted armed robbery and six years for aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
Richardson was convicted last year of charges tied to the June 2009 home invasion in East St. Louis.
The two-time felon and another man broke in to the home and held those inside at gunpoint.
Richardson previously had been convicted of aggravated robbery and battery.
