East St. Louis fugitive hurt in crash after chase

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (AP) -- A fugitive from Illinois is seriously injured after crashing following a police chase in Missouri.

The Southeast Missourian reports that 36-year-old Lashawn Good of East St. Louis, Ill., was hurt Sunday when he crashed his car into a tractor-trailer at a rest area on Interstate 55 in Cape Girardeau County.

A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper was chasing Good. The patrol says Good drove into the rest area and struck the tractor-trailer at a high speed. He wasn't wearing a seat belt and was ejected.

The patrol says Good was wanted on felony charges in Illinois, but didn't elaborate.
